Famous throughout the world as home of the beautiful Royal Palace of Caserta, gioiello del barocco italiano e patrimonio dell’Unesco, è in realtà una città rich in numerous civil, public and religious buildings con strutture architettoniche diverse in quanto realizzati in epoche differenti, da quella più antica a quella contemporanea.

A special mention goes to the Belvedere Palace and all’Vanvitellian Aqueduct, anch’essi eletti Patrimonio dell’Unesco. Quest’ultimo, fonte di apporto idrico della Reggia di Caserta, è considerato una vera e propria hydraulic engineering work built on the model of the ancient Roman aqueducts.

Located on the slopes of the Tifatini mountains Instead, we find a charming medieval village, known as Casertavecchia. Costruito a nord della città di Caserta, conserva suggestivi complessi storici, come il Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel of 1113, the Church of the’Annunziata and the Castle of Casertavecchia, che ogni settembre si anima con lo storico festival di “Settembre al Borgo”.

Tappa obbligata per gli amanti della natura e delle passeggiate all’aria aperta è the Forest of San Silvestro, un’antica riserva di caccia dei Bourbon, che nel 1993 è divenuta un’WWF area.
